Our History
1897

Founder O. L. Gilbert began his plater's apprenticeship in the employ of Bridgeport Silver Manufacturing Co. which was later acquired by Wm. A. Rogers Ltd. of Niagara Falls, NY.

 

1907

Royal Silver Manufacturing Co. started as a new business repairing and refinishing old silverware and brass

 

1909

Royal Silver Manufacturing Co. was incorporated. In addition to repair and replating the firm began manufacturing cutlery.

 

1912

There were major expansions during this time, as well as during 1914 and 1927

 

1927

"Chrome", after many years of nickel plating (for horse drawn as well as horseless carriages) and many other applications, Royal Silver was one of the first shops in the country to do chrome plating.

 

1932

After several years of experimentation the firm began production of Stainless Steel flatware. Royal Silver was one of the first to successfully manufacture this now widely used type of tableware.

 

Throughout these many years Royal has specialized in plating, metal finishing and conditioning from A to Z (Industrial, Engineering and Decorative). From Antique Sterling Silver to Hot Rod and Motorcycle Chrome.
